EARLI JURE Mentoring Grant: Visit Reflection

I received an EARLI JURE Mentoring Grant, which supports early career researchers of JURE (Junior Researchers of EARLI) in pursuing research visits and collaboration with a mentor at another institution. With this grant I visited the Learning and Educational Technology Research Lab (LET Lab) at the University of Oulu in Finland, with Sanna Järvelä, who leads the lab, as my mentor. During the visit I organised two sessions on my work — one on mind wandering as part of self-regulated learning, and a workshop on using AI as a research assistant — and got to know the lab’s hybrid intelligence approach to studying self-regulated learning and supporting learners. The visit also sparked joint research projects, a grant application, and new connections between my colleagues in Adelaide and Oulu. In the following video, I reflect on the visit and what I am taking away from it.
